Members of PA GOP State Committee met in Hershey on Friday and Saturday. Candidates for retention and election to statewide judicial positions on Superior and Commonwealth Club met with members in caucus meetings and informally.
State Chairman Val DiGiorgio spoke passionately in support of life and pushing back against the progressive socialists who seek to destroy America.
Endorsement is always an issue at the winter meetings. Central Caucus, which normally stands in opposition to endorsement, favored endorsement by a 58-32 vote. Members voted to endorse all the sitting judges for retention. The vote for two open Superior Court seats was: Christylee Peck-65, Rebecca Warren-53, and Megan King-50.
In the PAGOP General Meeting held later Saturday morning, the choice to endorse was secured by an overwhelming voice vote, followed by a suspended roll call when the threshold approving endorsement was reached. On a roll call vote the following candidates were endorsed: Christylee Peck-261 and Megan King-223. With 131 votes, Rebecca Warren was not endorsed.

Rep. Tom Marino leaves office today after 8 years representing Union County. Governor Wolf has 10 days to set the date of a special election to fill the seat.
In a special election voters cast ballots for Republican or Democrat nominees previously determined by each party’s own process. The winner is sworn into Congress shortly after the election is certified.
GOP county chairs within the congressional district are working with PAGOP Chair Val Di Giorgio who will set the date for a conferee meeting once the special election date is determined. Conferees representing each county GOP will choose a nominee for the special election.
