FLAG DAY
This day commemorates the adoption of the United States flag on June 14, 1777. The stripes represent the original 13 colonies, the stars represent the 50 states of the Union. The colors of the flag are symbolic as well: Red symbolizes Hardiness and Valor, White symbolizes Purity and Innocence and Blue represents Vigilance, Perseverance and Justice.
It Matters: PA Budget Trends
Uncontrolled state spending threatens every dollar hard-working Pennsylvanians earn as government grows its obligations. The tax increases required to fund that spending create a stagnant and slowing economy dimming the Commonwealth’s future as people leave the state in search of jobs and a more cost-effective lifestyle. But it does not have to be that way. Pennsylvania can get its financial house in order and live well within its means. One way is to eliminate prevailing wage, a priority of our own Rep. Fred Keller (R-85).

BUCR’s President Attacked
Bucknell College Republican President Tom Ciccotta was removed from his position as Jr. Class President last week. Although charges of missing meetings (4 of 75; 3 while on work assignments or organizing campus events) were leveled at Ciccotta, it is clear the vocal conservative was thrown off student government in retaliation for his political views and associated efforts to advance free speech on Bucknell’s campus.
